I just started feeling my port in the past few days as the first time I felt it I got nauseous! Lol. Now I find myself still getting grosses out but interested in feeling it! How did you react when you felt your port for the first time? This is so weird! Haha

I have felt mine since day one and that worries me because I am afraid it will be right at the surface when I lose all my weight! How deep do you have to press to feel yours? I can feel mine just lightly rubbing my hands over where it is

Mine is pretty deep in there, I feel tenderness but not much else. I am excited for when I really can feel it because that will mean the layers of FAT are dissapearing...LOL!

I have to press sort of deep, but I'm laying on my back now and I don't have to press as hard. I find my hands constantly over that area!! It's probably a bad habit but I'm still in denial that I can have the band! Haha

I could barley feel mine when I was first banded, but now you can see it. My hubby says he can feel it all the time....;)

I could feel mine from the very first day. I lost over 100 pounds and there is no difference on how far it sticks out.

I couldn't feel mine at all at first, so when I finally lost enough stomach fat to feel it I was actually pretty excited.

...my kids weren't nearly as enthusiastic when I ran through the house squealing "wanna feel my port?"

;)

I also felt mine from day 1 and I'm the freak that goes to the people I know "go ahead, you know you want to touch it". Hey, we all have out issues! :-)

I have been able to feel mine since day one and at first it freaked me out as it was two days post op and feeling rather poorly, really wondering if I had made the right decision. I am happy with my decision however there are some days when I feel totally in control and others when I do not :(.

I can feel mine and I too find myself feeling of it often. I guess it is because you have a foreign object in there and it is a little wierd feeling. Just glad to have the band and port.

I feel the same way (with being in control and not in control). This is a wild process! I have days where I feel amazing and powerful and other days when I feel totally bummed out and slowing losing motivation. I have days where I'm happy and days where I'm extremely irritable. Days when I'm starving and days where I'm okay. In the end, I am so happy about my decision to get banded and wouldn't have changed a thing!

Good luck to you! Keep your head up, this is a learning process! Everything will eventually fall into place for you!

My doctor told me to feel it when I went in for my first post op visit. Until then I hadn't really tried because I am a big baby and was afraid. I could feel it right away without pushing down. Of course I got woozy the first time and it took me a bit before I felt it again but now I find myself feeling it a lot. Tried to get kids and parents to feel it but no takers.....lol.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
