How do you know if you hurt your band?

Recommended Posts

I had band with plication plus hernia repair last friday. I am a little worried because i was told to drink 3/4 cups of Soup 6 times a day for the first two weeks. I have drank more than that and yesterday i felt great so i did alot of laundry and some house cleaning. my first follow up appt is monday and im worried that my band may have slipped. did any of u eat /drink more than u were supposed to at first? i dont know if i am having so much soreness because i had all three procedures at one time or if something is actually wrong. what do yall think?

its major surgery so you are bound to be sore (they cut into your tummy etc)

i also had the hernia repair and for a month, i was def sore/tummy tender..but it does get better.....like miss said, only your dr can advise if a band is slipped or eroded or went to disney land.....always refer to him if you are truly concerned...

just relax, sip and sip and then sip some more.....as you heal, you will be able to drink more as the swelling is going down...congrats on your surgery

I felt so good after my band repair and plication that I re-arranged my living room furniture by myself less than a week after surgery! And although I didn't suffer any consequences, I definitely would not recommend that to anyone!! I felt rather stupid after the fact!

Generally speaking, if there's a problem with your band, your body will find a way of letting you know -- just listen to it!

Thanks yall! For some reason when I typed that question i wasn't logged in under my profile. But I am feeling alot better & have been sipping, sipping, and sipping some more. It really scared me when I though i might have hurt something & made me realize how much I sacrificed for this band and that no amount of liquid is worth setting myself back. I really appreciate the advice yall gave me. I'm back at work taking it extra slow today.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
