I wanna shop too!

Please don't take this the wrong way. I am 47 pounds down since the start of my journey (banded Dec. 19) and I am very pleased with my progress. In watching some videos on YouTube and reading some responses on here I am seeing how people are dropping dress sizes left and right even with as low as 30 pounds loss. I am ready to lose a dress size or two! LOL I can still wear my same size. Don't get me wrong, everything is baggy, I just don't think I can justify shopping just yet. We are all different from our doctors to our journeys to our body types and weight falls off differently for different people. I am just itching to buy a new outfit in a smaller size.

Go to a resale shop. New outfit but only a little money spent. I too was banded 12/19. Down 35lbs and just one size. So I haven't bought anything new. Just been shopping in my closet.

The bigger you are when you start, the longer it will take for you to drop a size. It's weird but true.

I started over 400 pounds and I didn't have to buy the next size down until I'd lost about 60 pounds. But the lower on the scale I go, the sooner I seem to need new clothes. Now, I lose 15-20 pounds and I start feeling like my clothes are getting too baggy.

Hang in there, it will come and soon :)

Thanks for the responses ladies. I have been shopping my closet (ranges from 24-28) so I won't really be shopping for a while... Maybe just a little. It's more of the wanting this so bad, I guess. I started a little over 350 so I know what you mean, Mis. I see a lot of the before pictures of people and I think to myself, "man you were small." Now that I haven't mindset that I want to so this I am ready for things to start happening. I just have to keep telling myself- its a marathon, not a sprint.

Goodwill has become my new best friend. I've gotten so many amazing deals there. some things are new with tags still on. I didn't want to waste money by buying new as I shrank, but when pants and tops are $5 or less it isn't a problem. When I out shrink my new smaller clothes I can donate them back to Goodwill.

If the employees at Goodwill don't know you on a first name basis by the end if month 3, you are either, not working the program, a extreme introvert or have money to burn money. Lol lol.

I didn't need a smaller size until about 50 pounds. I even lost 1.5 shoe sizes. Shopping in your closet is awesome! Try on things in your closet even if you think it won't fit. I waited to try some things and by the time I did they were too big! Thrift stores and clearance racks are great. I get alot of designer stuff cheaply on the clearance rack at Nordstrom Rack. It will come eventually--be patient! It's alot of fun when it does, but it gets expensive.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
