Hi everyone! Glad to be here. I had my lap band surgery February 8,2011. I haven't lost much weight either. I have finally come to realize that I am the one responsible for my weight loss. No more over eating and not feeling like I have anyone to talk to. I go for my second band fill this Friday, March 8, 2013. I'm ready to start this journey again and do what I am told instead of doing what I want. Please bare with me and offer encouragement....that's what I need!

Welcome and we're here for you. Just a word of caution though. Some of us are rather blunt with our comments.

For example: If you come here and state you're eating ice cream every night but still can't lose weight, expect to get your butt kicked :P

Hi Margaret! I commend you for staying your journey again!!! That is so brave of you and it sounds life you are now ready for it now than you were when you got banded. I would recommend a class caked Success Habits and another called Back on Track. They were both developed for bariatric patients and changed my life! I would recommend them for everyone for long term success. If you want to, feel free to message me your state and I can look up classes and instructors in your area! Good luck! You will do awesome... best part, you already have the Band now you're ready to use it!

Welcome. It is never too late to start the rest of your life. I started mine at almost 62. Just remember when to stop and chew, chew, chew.

Good luck with your new life and journey.

Congrats on getting banded.

Rule #1 Never compare your WL to others.

Rule #2 Don't expect to lose 100 lbs overnight. Have the same expectations before the band, no more no less

Rule #3 Followup and keeping your band in GREEN is THE #1 thing I can suggest. Even in the worse of times I didn't gain weight because my band has always been in the GREEN :)

A little embarrassing, but what does having your band in "green" mean?(:

Green zone is where just a little bit of food gives you the feeling of satiety for 4-5 hours after a meal.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
