Hi guys! This is my first post here! Hope its in the right place.

I am 3 weeks post op. My surgeon moved me to "mushy" food last Friday. I've made a good variety of egg salad, chicken salad and tuna salads. My nutritionist said I should be eating 2oz 3 times a day and 1 Protein Shake, plus lots of Water. However after eating 2oz of mush, I'm still hungry! Am I allowed to eat more then 2 oz? Do you guys have any pointers for how to minimize the hunger?

I've been feeling great physically! I'm not in any pain anymore and I even went back to my tap classes this week! I want to get my fill and get it over with but I know I need to be patient with that.

Talk to your surgical team. They sometimes have different thoughts than the NUT.

Having said that, this is called bandsters hell. you will be hungry for a while. Embrace it! ;)

It sucks but as you get fills it gets a lot easier.

well, if you eat more than what your doctor says, what would they say?

the band wont stop you from being hungry. it will help you eat less...so if you are still hungry (is it head hunger where you just think you are hungry) try drinking to see if this helps...otherwise, just tough it out.....SF popsicles saved my a s s.

Everyone is different. Some people can get by with 2 to 4 oz or maybe a cup. However, I have never been the one who was saticfied with really small portions. When I was 3 weeks out I still had a somewhat big appieate, I did walk my but off, but I could not just make it on those small portions. Yes, the Water will help, you may require a little more, just a little more. I think the mistake that we bandsters make sometime is getting rid of everything, which can sometimes pull our metabolism down. Most of all don't beat yourself up. You will get and be hungry, you will get full faster. Just because you have the band does not mean you won't get hungry.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
