Who else other then GI doctor can do an EGD scope?

Recommended Posts

I live in Florida but plan to travel to TX (True Results) for my surgery. I am doing my blood work here while I am in FL and wanted to go ahead and get the EGD done also to make sure it is possible for me to get the discounted price at True Results (due to hernia) before traveling there. I was told my primary doctor should be able to do it but when I called to ask they said they don't and that I will have to go to a GI doctor.

I called around and the GI doctors are wanting me to come in for a consultation and then do the EGD. I was trying to find a way around this because it will take a couple of weeks and also because I have to pay out of pocket for two visits instead of one. Has anyone experienced this dilemma and found someone to do the EGD? I was thinking about possibly asking a bariatric surgeon's office to do it for me but not sure that would set well with them if I am going to a different surgeon.

Any ideas?

As far as I know, an endoscopy must be done by a gastroenterologist.

I had one done by my gastro, the other done by the surgeon doing my lapband, but he also does gastro related surgeries. Other than that, I am not sure.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
