I'm just puttin this out there, any feed back or experiences would be greatly appreciated. I did Hcg drops in my old dieting days and did pretty well... Until I quit and went back to my old way... So just wondering, would it be so bad to try it again if one were stuck in a slow stall? After all our diets are about the same... It's just a horomone that takes energy from our stored fat as opposed to other... Hmmm what do you guys think?

Just my personal opinion, but I wouldn't waste my time with any diet drugs or gimmicks. As you stated yourself "until I quit and went back to my old way". You can't stay on stuff like Hcg forever and when you do go off it any weight you lost just rebounds right back. The same is true for all the other prescription and OTC diet drugs and supplements out there.

I got the band to be healthy and to lose my weight in a healthy way. No more fads or gimmicks for me.

Again, just my opinion.

I wouldn't. HCG is very low fat too, you have DRY melba toast & not enough nutrition.

I personally wouldn't do it, we got the band to help us eat less and make healthier choices. It's about making these healthier changes for life and to also become more active. Stalls in weightloss are a natural part if the weightloss process, if we keep eating right and exercise eventually the weight starts to come off again.

I had the lapband as a last resort and to stop 30 years of yo-yo dieting. I will never go on any diets again but continue to make the healthier choices. I still have treats but in moderation. Everything in moderation is the key.

I did HCG last year.. lost 50 lbs... however, I did the homeopathic... in order to get the real HCG you have to get it from another country.. it's illegal in the U.S. anyway, it worked but if you eat 500 calories a day now without the HCG you will lose 1 lb a day I am sure.. as soon as I quit doing that diet, I felt so bad, no energy and lost hair.. I immediately started eating anything that didn't move ... gained every lb back and then some. I finally decided to get the band. I have lost 28 lbs since being banded in Jan and I feel great.. I think HCG and other diets are a temporary thing and make you feel so deprived you go back to eating worse.

How many calories are allowed on the hgc diet? Its prolly the calorie restriction that makes a person lose weight.

I never had a cal restriction with mine... An apple in the morning... Protein and veggies for dinner and lunch with two Melba crackers and an orange in the evening... Pretty close to what I eat now... Before when I would quit and go back to my old ways... That included junk food and bad portions.... I don't plan on doing that again anyway.... Thanks for everyone's opinions;)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
