I know it's hard, but remind yourself your post op diet has nothing to do with weight loss and everything to do with healing. Your stomach has been stitched and needs time to heal. Cheating on your post op diet puts you at very real risk for band slips and ripping those stitches. So, stick to your post op diet and remind yourself your health is at risk when you feel tempted to cheat.

My first week was liquid, second week soft/ mushie, third week solids. You will see from all the posts we are given very many different post op diets to follow. I was banded 2nd July 2012 and starting solids on my third week has not harmed me nor has it made my band slip. I followed my surgeons instructions to the letter. I stuck to my portions, I don't count calories. I also got my first fill at three weeks.

If you're struggling call your surgeon/ nutritionist and let them know, that's what they are there for. This stage you're on is hard but doable. You just have to find that strength within you to do the right thing for yourself.

I'm nine months banded, I don't count calories, I drink with my meals if I need to ( as instructed by my surgeon and nutritionist) and I'm down 92 pounds in nine months. I've lost every single week from my preop diet ( one month). Some weeks more some weeks less.

Right at the beginning when I started to feel hungry again I just kept myself extra busy or got out of the house or even got on my treadmill and walked.

Just hang in there it will get easier once you start getting your fills. There are lots of changes you'll need to make and you can't do it over night but as the weeks go by you will and before you know it all your hard work will be so worth it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
