Hi everyone. I was banded on feb 15th and this morning instead of eating something I decided I was going to have a glass of Water with my Calcium and Multivitamin tablets before i ate something. Doing so I got nauseous and lied down. And then I got the hiccups and they have been ongoing now for the past 15 minutes. I'm so terrified that this is moving my band or something because its only been 2 weeks! Am I screwed? Did I just mess up my band?

I am not a doc but I use to get the hiccups when I was full....not for 15 minutes though. Try to walk around, you may just have some air in there from drinking your liquids to fast or something. I don't think your band is going to slip over your hiccups. Like I said, I use to get them all the time. And your band can seem to go through a lot before it slips. Again, I am not a doc but call yours and just ask them to make yourself feel better. I have gotten sick, hiccups, taken a bad fall and my band is still in place.. unfortunetaly its leaking and I am having issues but this is not about me....just call the doc...it will make you feel better..ok!!!! I remember too when I would do something and freak out about my band. Once I forgot to crush a pill and thought I was going to flip! EVerything was fine....hope i helped you some..

I don't think anything is messed up but if you are scared, call your doc. I get the hiccups and I burp now more than my entire life combined!

Just try to relax...mine have gone on that long before.

Thanks guys, I guess I was just freaking out because I remember my surgeon said something about constant hiccups could be a sign of a possible slip. I'm seeing him Wednesday so I'll bring it up then. I was just nervous because nothing was in my stomach so I couldn't be too full haha.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
