I just wanted to say that hitting your calorie goal really helps! I was banded on 02/13/13 and didn't have to do a pre-op diet. I was 289 surgery date and this morning I am down to 276.2. I lost 10 lbs the first week and have been stuck there till this past Friday (March 1st) and all of a sudden, after reading so many people preaching on here that you really need to get all of your calories in, I made some changes and boom! I'm down 3 more lbs in 2 days! It really helps!

I'm a little over 3 weeks post op and I'm down 24lbs and I see the scale by moving this week. The NUT said when I'm eating ill be between 600-1000 calories a day. Right now I'm on 1 Protein Shake divided into 2 meals, 1 snack (usually yogurt or cottage cheese) and 1 soft food meal a day and I haven't been hitting the 600 mark. I think my body is still in starvation mode so I'm going yo try to up my calories more. Thanks!!

I just started introducing solid foods back into my diet. I am supposed to be getting 1200 calories a day(which is very hard to do) and 40g of Protein. At first I wasn't getting enough Protein so I felt like I was starving all of the time! Now that i am getting enough, i feel better and am lasting about 4 hours in between meals. I also am not supposed to have my first meal till 10am so I have my Protein shake at 8am then eat at 10, 2 & 6. This seems to be working well for me.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
