Well I went to the Dr. on Tuesday and scheduled my surgery date. I will be getting banded on March 29th. I was very overwhelmed and stressed after scheduling because there are so many things I need to do. I work full time 5 days a week so it's difficult to get off for everything. I have to go to a surgery education class from 1:30-3:30pm on 3/7, I have an abdominal U.S. scheduled on 3/4, an Endo on 3/14, medical clearance on 3/25, another apt with my surgeon on 3/26 and somewhere in there I have to go for PAT's. Wow this is crazy!!! I didn't even realized there was so much before the surgery. Does every surgeon require so much? Well now that I have mostly everything scheduled and working it into my work schedule I feel alot better. I am looking forward to my surgery but am scared and anxious!!! Change is hard but I have been trying to get ready but exercising and drinking Protein Shakes for lunch and dinner. Still trying to feel my way around this site! Haven't figured how to do everything but know I will need the support. If anyone has any pointers regarding how to navigate the site please let me know.

What's the Endo? Are u talking about endometriosis? I have it severe, but my surgeon hasn't mentioned one thing about it, I'm 10 days from Surgery!

I did a bunch of appointments and pre surgery labs and tests. But mine were way spread out. My insurance requires a 6 month wait period before surgery. And kind of like an educational period, they provided a life coach, i had to meet with a nutritionist a few times. I been at this for a long time!! Surgery on monday! Finally! As far as the site goes, i just had to play around with it, if u have something specific maybe i can help point it out! Ur surgery is right around the corner! The last month flew by for me! If you have been at ur job long enough u might want to look into a leave of absence for after surgery, im taking 2 weeks off. My second week paid by short term disability. First week i was able to save up enough pto to be paid also. Really excited :)

Endo as in endoscopy. Its where they put a scope with a camera down your throut to check out your esophagus and stomach. Painless cuz your sedated.

I only had a pre op class and blood work right before surgery.

I started this whole process in October and went to nutritionalist, 3 support group meeting, sleep apnea test, and psychological eval. Apparrently all these procedures now are pre-surgery. I am taking off 2 weeks after surgery! Hope that's enough. It's just difficult because I have to take days off ahead of time also to have some of the other stuff done!

One question I do have is how do you get the Body weight ticker on your page?

Its under your profile, there should be like a tab for ticker.

I too started in October with a psyc eval, physical therapst, nurse practitioner, ECG, sleep study, full blood work, meeting the surgeon, and having 3 months of nutritionist visits. Then after that, wait for my insurance approval from Cigna which only took a couple days then I was scheduled for surgery. Once that happened, I only had to do the class and blood work.

I guess it depends on the Dr. Well it looks like we will be having our band around the same time. Good luck to you on this new phase of your life! I'm looking forward to it but am nervous about the changes. Thanks for the information on the ticker. I'll try and figure it out!

For the ticker, go up to the top right hand side, click on your screen name "Tangie", it will bring down a little menu, 5th down on the left it says my tickers, click that. Then on that page, midway there is a button that says "create ticker". From there u just pick what u want. In order for your numbers to register on it u have to have put that info in your profile, its takes the lbs etc from there.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
