ireallywannabthin 286 Posted March 3, 2013 I'm a little more than 3 weeks post op and eating soft foods. I do 1 Protein Shake (divided into 2 meals), 1 snack (yogurt or cottage cheese) and 1 meal a day. I've had grilled chicken and veggies and eggs for the main part and I'm still so extremely constipated. I've taken Ducolax and it has helped but are there any other tips? lekanto 50 Posted March 3, 2013 Since I've had the band, I have to be more careful about having too many dairy products. That was never really a problem before, but I think the sheer volume of food I ate kept everything moving.
CBM7766 9 Posted March 3, 2013 Oh my goodness I am 3 weeks out and having the same problem. Well I was. Until yesterday when I got the stomach bug. Ugh! Totally the opposite problem now. Anyway, I am adding a stool softener daily (when I am feeling better) and eating Activia. Hoping that will keep me going. (Pun intended). Good luck!
cheryl2586 3,053 Posted March 3, 2013 High Protein in its self causes Constipation. I would add a stool softener but if you can stomach it drink a large glass of warm prune juice. It should cause an explosive affect lol 1 ireallywannabthin reacted to this

bandedally 12 Posted March 3, 2013 About 5 weeks since my surgery, I am having the same problem and am almost sure this is why I'm not losing much weight. I can feel the fullness in my lower belly and it's so uncomfortable. I took 2 dulcolax on Friday, which helped me drop 2 pounds this weekend. I need to figure out a long term plan. I am only "going" like once a week. 2 ireallywannabthin and monic704 reacted to this
Jackie W 68 Posted March 11, 2013 I am so miserable right now. I am waiting on the Dr to call back to tell me it is ok to take a stool softener.
CHEZNOEL 4,061 Posted March 11, 2013 I take a half dose of Miralax every day, under docs orders to maintain normal bowel activity. Miralax is tasteless and dissolves in any liquid. I highly recommend it. The only thing that worked for me. I feel your pain!
