I am 1 week and 1 day post op and I am feeling hungry and I kind of thought that would subside by now. I have some idea of what to eat but not clear on how much to eat. Basically I thought I knew what I was getting into but now I feel like I dont really know how to use this band anymore. Its hard cooking normal meals for my family and my 5yr old asking why I am not eating. There's a lot of emotions I didnt know would happen and a lot of confusion on if I am eating right or doing the right things with my band. My first fill is on the 18th and I almost wish it was sooner so I dont have to feel so hungry. Anyone have any advice or ideas as to a meal plan maybe? I know I should be drinking my Protein but find it hard. But I will try harder on the shakes.< /p>

Welcome to "Bandster HELL"! I was in BH for about 4 months. It will get easier but not soon. A fill may or may not minimize the deprivation. You should follow your doctors orders. This stage is like being on a diet and therefore the phrase "until there's restriction...It's just anothe diet".

I never liked the feeling of being deprived and being uncomfortable when I dieted. So, during my BH phase I ate healthy foods but probably more calories than recommended so I didn't have those feelings. But, not until I was allowed to eat a normal diet(30 days out). The stage you're in will be tough to endure, but you must follow the rules till you are healed.

Be patient with yourself, you really are very newly banded. Not only are you still healing you're trying to adjust to a new way of thinking about food and life in general. It's not easy at all. Learning to live with the band is a major learning experience.

Perhaps you should focus on one phase at a time. Like for instance, right now I'm going to assume you're on liquids being as you're only a week post op. Focus on what you're supposed to be eating for this phase and this phase only so you don't get overwhelmed thinking about what comes next.

You might also find getting out all the information your doctor gave you and re-reading it. I even kept mine on my dresser for quick reference.

Increasing your Protein will help your hunger for sure. Maybe you could try other brands of Protein Shakes? If you find one you truly likely you'll be more apt to actually have them. I know I had to try 3 or 4 brands before I found one I actually liked.

Hang in there, and remember, just focus on one step at a time. It does get a lot easier.

You're only a week post op. It will get easier with time but were'nt you sent home with any instructions as to what you should be eating now. I was still on Clear Liquids at 1 week post op. You are going to be hungry but it,s only temporary. A small amount of time to me for a great success ahead.

It is very hard cooking for others. I took my mentally challenged brother out for a steak birthday dinner and had tea. Now that was hard. I went for dinners many times and had drinks or brought my own Carnation instant drink with extra Protein with me. I never explained to others other than saying I am on doctor's orders and have to watch my intake. Left it there. I didn't have a fill for 2 months and then it was a small one. I loved having SF Popsicles. I still have them a lot. I buy the Edy's brand.

Good luck, you'll do great!!!!!!!

Yup what everyone else says.

You are healing and getting the Protein and Water are a necessity. When you can have pudding a suggestion for you is to mix Protein Powder with sf Jello instant pudding.

When you go to dr make sure he gives you a list of foods and how much. Right now practice all the rules.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
