Recommended Posts

I have being banded for 1 year and have lost 54 pounds total. Finally it took my doctor to put me in the green zone a hole year, and finally I feel some restriction and able to eat less and satisfied faster, but at this point I feel that I lost interest and motivation since I always see in this forum that everyone ales have had such a good results with their bands and for me it seems that it hasn't work as it should.. Need some big motivation, psicological help, and some word of encouragement because I'm even thinking of seing a doctor to flak about removing my band or going for sleeve surgery.. Please help

54lbs is alot of weight!! Congrats on your success.

It didn't take me a year to put on 75lbs.......it took me years and years. I expect to lose a little here and a little there...and then I expect to keep it off.

54lbs is your motivation. With another fill...get your head back in the game and you will get there! I know it.

Good luck :)

You can not compare yourself to everyone else in this forum. It took me 3 years to lose 121 pounds. Just because others are losing fast which is not a great way with the band, you have lost over 50lbs. I am sure with perserverance you will get where you want to be. Comparing yourself to everyone else here of course will give you no motivation. You have to do what you're doing and know that its the right thing for you. This isn't a race to see who loses weight the fastest. It's about you getting healthy with your band not ours.

why switch to the sleeve? you have a perfectly good tool to help you lose weight and you have lost 54 pounds..that is fantastic...just because one switches to the sleeve will not automatically make them lose all the weight...eating habits/portions still must be adhered too...

eat your alloted amounts

drink alot

exercise

and find that want power you had when you started your banded life.

comparing your loss to cndy loo whoo will only defeat you

you are you....that is all you need to care about or concern yourself about.

I don't mean to be critical of your wanting the sleeve, but you should analyze why you want to make the change? Are you expecting too much of a tool? The sleeve can be just a tool too. If you can't follow the rules now, can you with the sleeve? Not everyone is successful with the sleeve you know? Both take work and commitment.

54 pounds in 1 year is a great accomplishment. Your band IS WORKING FOR YOU!!!!!! You want to switch to the sleeve for quicker results. WLS should not be a quick fix. You gained weight over a period of years, so why do you expect to lose it overnight? Please be happy for results and not compare yourself to others. Congratulations and keep up the good work.

Honey you lost 54 pounds!!! That is definitely NOT unsuccessful!! Hang in there if you're in the green zone you should be able to make the right choices and start losing more. Try changing things up and don't deprive yourself ALL the time. I feel like it is very important to allow ourselves to have a treat here and there so we don't feel deprived. This is a lifestyle change and even with the sleeve you have to make the same changes to find success. You've done great so far!!! Please don't give up.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
