I can totally relate. I had my EGD done yesterday and I almost cancelled my surgery today! Crazy after I worked so hard for the approval.

Very common symptom. Some people blame it on the hormone released by the fat, others a morning or grieving period over changing your lifestyle.

It's very normal after surgery. They pump a lot of drugs into during surgery, you've been through a big change, you're likely nutrient deficient from the post op diet, and there is something in the anesthesia that often makes people depressed.

What you're going through is very, very common. Hang in there, I promise it gets a lot better and easier very soon.

Very very normal. : )

Please know you are not alone. I bet tons of peoplecan relate.

They say it's like buyers remorse. For me, only lasted a couple days.

Chin up!

I cried. I felt alone and actually I was. I went to Colorado for surgery and I'm from NYC. I didn't bring anyone w me, so I felt sad. I also cried because I couldn't understand how a young girl who exercises so much ended up getting a band. I kept asking myself WHY didn't I control myself! I cried a lot... Sometimes I still do. I don't even know if I needed a band. When i gain weight I tend to lose it w diet and exercise. Sometimes I think I got the band just because I was able to afford it. But, that's the same problem w food. I eat it because its easy for me to afford it and to bring others w me to eat. I was 210 but i just gave birth. sometimes i thk I made a big mistake and that i Didn't need a band.

I never told anyone this b4...

The helpless, depend feeling is awful. But what it really means is you are an independent, hard worker, or this wouldn't feel so odd to you!

So take afew more days to let yourself heal. You've earned it.

It takes strength to let others help you when it is against your nature.

Leslie80, you had a rough start. I can't imagine being alone the first few days .

Regrets, I think, are a knee jerk reaction in the beginning. But you are already losing and you will be a new and improved healthy mom for your kids.

Leslie, everyone here can lose weight with diet and exercise, I did it for 40 odd years, until i couldn't. I would loose weight and then the knee replacement sidelined me and I gained it back. I would lose weight and then I ripped my achilles in half and gained it back. I would lose weight and then my testosterone levels got low and sent me into a deep depression and I gained it back. Until this last year when I worked my butt off but didn't lose weight. That is when I got the band.

The band is a tool that studies show not only will help you lose weight, but it will help you keep it off. Would you rather do that when you are younger, or are you going to waste all those years like I did.

Regardless, you have the tool, now please use it.

It's very normal to have depression after surgery. It's called surgical depression. As you heal it should go away.

Oh I cried like a manic baby for a few days because i didnt know if i made the right choice even though I planned for this for over a year and prepared myself for 6 months .. But I knew something was a little off when I was watching Hotel Transylvania with my son and I cried my eyes out. After that it got to the point where I was laughing because I was crying.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
