Has anyone been told by their doc that they had to stop taking diuretics? I take them for my BP. I am hoping i dont need as many meds once i lose weight, but for now i would like to continue taking them.

It depends what you are taking and how much. Can you please give us more info? Also you should talk to the doctor who prescribed your meds before stopping. I take lasix but since losing weight I usually only take on tom.

Hi hely, i take chlorthaladone. It helps your body to not absord sodium, and being on the first two weeks pst op and drinking Soup, i feel the effects of the sodium in them even though they are low sodium Soups. I have a headache all day, thats what salt does to me. Anyway my MD said ok to stop, monitor my BP for a while and let him knw how i feel.

My advice to you is to stop if your doctors say it is ok but try to drink at least 64ounces of Water a day. The water will help flush some of the sodium out. Also if you eat or drink anything with caffein consider cutting that out as well. My blood pressure has been lower since doing all this. Best of luck to you!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
