I am on day three and feeling great.

Day of surgery (Wed), the shoulder pain was the worst. Rest, Water, walking and gas x helped quite a bit. Didn't take any pain meds besides Tylenol because I would be taking a plane ride back home on Thursday, the 28th. Yep, next day. Thursday no more shoulder pain but burning incision pain. Just had to breath (which hurt) and keep moving. Plane ride was fine, only 1hour 15 min. Got home, finally took the Norco and felt much relief. Slept and rested. I am feeling so much better today - Friday, march 1, I even drove the kids to school this morning. A challenge, but I think school speed bumps helped move gas too! I have been drinking my water, muscle milk for Protein and taking my Vitamin. My doc says to take colace if I do not have a bowel movement by Monday.

Looking forward to taking this journey into a healthier life and hope to have you join me as I would like to join you.

Good luck and healthy living!

B.

Guidance needed: is today day 5 when do I start soft foods? Or do I actually start on day 6? I was banded last week Wednesday 2/27. I have been drinking Water, muscle milk, chicken broth and some Jello. I am feeling very good and wonder if I am ready for yogurts, creamy Soups and puddings. I also heard smoothie Kings "the gladiator" is a great Protein Shake to have. I drank those during my pre op. Any feedback? Suggestions? Ty! B.

Congrats on being a bandster!

My doctor told me not to count the day of surgery, so day one is actually the day after. One thing I have learned while reading these forums is the amount of variation all of the surgeons have for when to start clear fluids, then full fluids progressing to mushy or pureed and then finally regular food. I suggest calling your clinic and asking them, I am surprised they didn't send you home with detailed instructions. I had to spend five days on clear fluids and now am on my fifth day of full fluids (soups, pudding, yogurt), I have one more day then onto mushie pureed!!

I am glad you are feeling well!

I was banded 2/27 as well. I am curious why my instructions were to stay on Clear Liquids and Protein Shakes from day 2-13, then on to cream Soups and soft food from day 14-21. I'm hungry... I'm a rule follower so I will do what the instructions say but... dang.... It would be nice to have something with more substance and not sweet like the Protein shakes.< /p>

Oops hit send by accident. I was sent one packet from my lap band advocate and another on the day of the surgery.

One says week 1 (day 1-7) full liquid diet the other says days 1-5 Protein shakes.

Then week 2 day 7-14. Soft diet foods: eggs, tuna, cottage cheese and so on. The other packet says days 6-10 Sliders: creamed Soups, yogurt, etc.

I am not hungry and broth and muscle milk and Jello work great. Not in a hurry, just wondered. I was banded 2/27. My follow up is this week on thurs and my first fill is the 23 of march.

Every place must be different.

I will be calling the clinic just to be refreshed on info, so much info to store after surgery, it gets a little jumbled.

Hello everyone. Hope you are all feeling well! It is day 11 for me from surgery date and I am feeling really great! On day 6 my dietician cleared me for soft foods so that I may enjoy going out to dinner to Celebrate my daughters birthday. We went to Bonefish Grill and I ordered their grilled trout with a side of broccoli. I was maybe able to eat a ...less than a quarter of the fish and two small bites of broccoli. But I took small bites, ate slow and enjoyed. Since then I've been having eggs for bfast, chicken salad for lunch and some ground beef for dinner. I have not have any negative results, thank goodness! Yesterday I ate one baby carrot with hummus, to see how I felt, and I was fine. I chewed and chewed and chewed!

I am looking forward to day 16 to introduce all foods and to the end of the month for my first fill.

How is everyone doing?

When you drink liquids, do you sip or can you still take in big gulps? I miss chugging my Water .... Sipping out od a water bottle doesn't seem to satisfy my thirst as much!

Please share your diets too.

Xoxo, b

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
