jayar77 0 Posted March 1, 2013 Hey Gents, Just joined and had my first consultation with the Nutritionist. Thought I was ready but then went over diet plans before and after. Now I'm a little freaked. My Mother in Law had bypass last year and went from 273 to 166 ,and it saved her life. The Beer concern is what scares me a little. I have 2 young girls so don't really drink as much any more but enjoy a beer or two at the end of a hard day. Any advice ?
Terry Poperszky 2,784 Posted March 1, 2013 Hey Gents, Just joined and had my first consultation with the Nutritionist. Thought I was ready but then went over diet plans before and after. I have 2 young girls so don't really drink as much any more but enjoy a beer or two at the end of a hard day. Any advice ? Switch to Red wine. How do you feel about flat beer? Many of us can't handle carbonation in any form. I was a diet coke addict for decades, I decided that I wanted a rum and coke the other night, and even though I tried to reduce as much carbonation as possible it still made me uncomfortable. medicrn 88 Posted March 1, 2013 If you add it to your total cals and that's what you want and can handle its in your court. I still have a drink or two now and then but I add it into my total cals and don't go over. The carbonation I think may be your biggest prob. My fav is cayman jack margaritas and they are carbonated. Some days I can and some days I cannot.

2muchfun 8,927 Posted March 1, 2013 Beer contains empty calories. Since you're taking in limited calories there's not a lot of room for such an extravagance? I faced the exact same concern 3 months out and my nut said if I wanted to lose weight I'd have to give up on some of my fetishes. Beer is one of them. Beer also lowers your will power to avoid snacking and late night eating. Try to limit your consumption to maybe 2 beers a week. Once you get to your goal weight you may be able to add beer back into your routine? tf
Drummergirl 10 Posted March 1, 2013 I've switched to white wine because I am prone to gout (red wine makes it flare up). Unfortunately I still dream of beer. I used to drink 3-5 a couple of nights a week. Sorry guys to infringe on your space, but I'm a major beer lover - no more.
laurigee 545 Posted March 1, 2013 Of all the things that you could worry about your concern is beer? LOL ... What food group do you put this in in your food journal at the end of the day? What healthy food do you plan to eliminate so you can use those calories towards a beer? I'm just messing with you!!!!! I can no longer drink anything that's carbonated! I was addicted to diet soda and thought there was no way I would give it up! Actually now I don't miss it! Which my husband can't believe because I would go though at least 6-8 cans a day! I would drive to McDonalds every morning to get my large diet coke to start my day! Things change as your body starts changing! At the end of the day instead of drinking a beer to wind down you may want to go take a walk by yourself, who knows it may have the same effects as the beer without the calories!
