I have not once crushed my meds and I had no issues. I do take then with juice or applesauce so they go down easier. If they are meds you can crush and want to crush, then put them in applesauce. Thats what my mom used to do for me since I've had hard times swallowing pills.< /p>

I never crushed meds either. Only time I've had a problem is when I was way too tight after a fill. You might want to just try swallowing and see how it goes????? I'm no doctor, may want to call the office before you do that.

I never had to crush any of my meds but I can tell u from working in a pharmacy some tablets aren't meant to be crushed :/ most pills that are okay to crush do go well with applesauce and even chocolate Syrup. Ask your pharmacist which ones can be crushed and what it can be mixed with so it won't taste so nasty. Some meds aren't good to mix with applesauce or dairy products. But in general ifs mainly trial and error your doctor won't know personally if you can swallow a pill or not that's something you will have to just try on your own. Also from being a pharmacy tech I have learned Doctors honestly don't fully know that much about medications other than their use. So I would recommend if you can't swallow a pill speak to your pharmacist.

If you swallow your pills and they get stuck its very painful and the acid can inflame the esophagus and then you're in trouble! I crush and my taste buds have gotten used to them!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
