YES' date=' PLZ DONT TALK 2me! Bully[/quote']

I will never understand why people come on this forum, admit that they are cheating on their diet, and expect people to say that is ok. Missy was simply stating that you aren't doing yourself any good by not following your post-op diet. Yes it is difficult and can be trying at times, but no one ever say getting the band was going to be easy. Breaking your instructions this early on isn't going to make you successful in the long run.

I will also never understand why grown adults have to resort to name calling. Totally uncalled for.

Wow is all I can say. "I know it's bad for me"...and then get all indignant when people tell you exactly how bad, yet in a very polite way.

Mis...you are SUCH a BULLY for trying to keep people informed and healthy...there's some real nut jobs out there...and you're certainly not One of them

Can someone tell me what it feels like when you start food. What is the full feeling like? I know i am just 4days post op and still sore but feel like i have a lump in my throat when aybe i drink too fast.

It sounds like your overfilling to me, or more specifically taking in fluids faster than they can drain through the hole created by the band. Try drinking more slowly I spent a lot of time pre-op practicing drinking more slowly. You may need to take some specific steps to retrain yourself to adjust to smaller portions. You might try drinking all of your liquids like Soup. Pour them into a bowl and use a small spoon to drink them. This may also help trick your lower brain functions into thinking your eating more. Also when you eat try using chopsticks and a baby spoon. It will slow you down, limit your bites, and if your not proficient with chopsticks the mental focus should help distract you from the hunger and help you recognize when your full faster.

I was banded the 19.$ we are supposed to feel hungry. Our band is in place but it will start to do its job after we get a fill. I mixed my liquids w meats. I also was starving. I know it's ad for me, but I sometimes eat a oil bit of regular foods. I have children. I need energy.

YES, PLZ DONT TALK 2me! Bully

Leslie,

You offered some terrible advice to a new member. I'm thankful one of our members jumped in to correct you. Mixing liquids with meat ?! (WTF?) Don't provide our members with (bad) advice that goes against everything we've been taught will harm our bands.

Also, name calling will get you permanently banned. Please read out terms of service. If you have an issue with a post, REPORT it please. Do NOT respond.

At least I didn't cheat my health insurance like hundreds here. I paid for my surgery cash and I didn't have to leave USA to have it done!

Angry much? If you have the attitude that we all cheated by having the lap band, then I am certain that you are going to struggle with your weight loss. And if you paid for your surgery yourself with cash, why wouldn't you follow your instructions from your doctor??

There are many support sites out there but you can't expect people to coddle your bad behavior, both in regards to your lap band and your attitude towards other members.

Good luck with your future. Just remember, a positive attitude will take you a long way!

I for one appreciate the "bullies" on here who aren't afraid to tell it like it is. I'm pre-op and have a lot to learn. I hope the "bullies" will help me with any questions that I may have.

This definitely isn't the place for name calling, we are all here to support one another. If someone gives bad advice, there shouldn't be a problem with with pointing it out. But ultimately your doctors opinion is the one that matters.

The one thing that has amazed me about this site is the amount of people who don't follow their doctors orders. You trust them to cut you open and implant a device in your body. But as soon as you can't eat a steak a week post op you question his rules? (This isn't directed at anyone who has posted on this thread, but I have seen someone this ridiculous on a different one). Personally I chose a surgeon who has performed over 4,000 Lap-Band surgeries because I believe that HE knows how to help ME succeed.

I will be spending $13,000 of MY money, but I will be following HIS rules, even if I don't always want to.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
