March 2 marks my 1st year bandiversary. I thought by now that I would be down at least 80 lbs, but no such luck. I have been plateaued for almost 5 months the weight will not buldge. I take in 1000-1200 calories a day. I do admit since I started school that I do not exercise as much, but even before that with 6 days week exercise no weight loss. I feel bad I have tried everything, logging food with my fitness pal and still nothing. I don't know what to do I have even talked to physician. I did so well in the beginning with the weight loss, but not getting at least the 1 lb a week is very discouraging. Any advice or encouragement is accepted.

I was banded last May and the weight lose is now coming off slower ( very slow ) same as you, but at least it is still coming off I have not gained and that is a plus. Just keep doing what you are doing, it is a life change and you are doing great. Your weight loss of 63 pounds is amazing, keep your chin up. Hugs

63 pounds is a great job in a year. Think of how much you could possibly be weighing if you didn't have the surgery!

Have you tried jogging your metabolism? Several people on the forum have tried something called "carb cycling" with success. Alternating between high carb and low carb days to jumpstart your weight loss when it is at a plateau. I have not tried it yet but have it in my hip pocket, ready to use, when I hit that plateau. I am no expert on it but you can put "carb cycling" in the search field on this forum and there is all kinds of information. Of course, you can google it too. Hope that helps.

God Bless

This is what I do when I get a plateau. Usually just 2 weeks o of carb cycling is all I need to get my metabolism moving again. I haven't had to do it since right after Christmas, but next plateau I hit I'll definitely be doing it again.

Calories in (food eaten) versus calories out (burned)

Speaking for myself....not giving anyone advice...but the greatest liberation for me was when I stopped counting calories and just ate less, (but healthy) and exercised more....

My advice is to get a heartrate monitor and work on getting your heart rate up during cardio exercises. Best of Luck!

I wanted to respond because I think you have done great in 1 year. I am 1 month in and just going for my first visit next Wednesday. I found you looking at Dr. Reilly's profile. Hang in there. You have done a great job. You might just need a plateau buster like others have said.

I think for me personally the most important thing is exercise! I have not lost a pound since I have not been able to exercise for the last 1 1/2 months. I had a hysterectomy, broke a rib, and had the flu. My doctor has not yet cleared me for more intense workouts. I have been walking, but not at the level it takes to lose weight. You can go to the gym 7 days a week and if you don't get your heart rate up enough it's just not going to give you the results you desire. This is just what I have found personally! Everyone's bodies react differently. Some can just eat less to lose, I don't feel that is as effective for me. Your going to have to mess with your foods and exercise and see what your body responds to! Good luck! It is just another part of the process of getting to know your own body!

I know you are discouraged, but my goodness look how much weight you have lost! Good job! Maybe it is just slow because you have lost so much! But maybe you need to change things up, like your workout or your food. I know when I hit a platue I will do low carb for a couple weeks and it really jump starts my weight loss. Good Luck!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
