Uh' date=' I think not? Where did you hear that?

A lb of muscle will take up less space than a pound of fat. Now I've never taken out a lb of my own fat and compared it to a lb of my own muscle but my nutritionist has these 1 lb models in her office and clearly, muscle takes up less space. Your two sentences contradict each other BTW.

"It is denser than fat and it is tighter "wound" if you will than fat" VS "muscle does weigh more than fat since it takes a lot more muscle fibers to fill a glass for instance than it takes loose-fibered blubber"

Dense means more weight per cubic inch.

tmf[/quote']

I apologize for contradicting myself. But, I have seen the comparisons of the sizes of the individual cells and fat cells are empty under a microscope where muscle cells are "full". Is that better? That being said, yes, muscle weighs more than fat when weighing INDIVIDUAL cells.

Hey Redesigned_Curves it seems that you have copied your response verbatim from an article on the Weight Watchers site. Why? And what's with all the off topic hair splitting? Anyone who says "muscle weighs more than fat" means that a volume of muscle weighs more than an equal volume of fat, which is true. No need to invoke microscopy.

Back on to OP, after a hard workout it's basically temporary muscle swell which is Fluid. If I go for a long run I always weigh a little more the day after. When I was a younger man and in to body building I at times would see my weight go up by as much as ten pounds for a few days after a particularly strenuous weight routine.

Just trying to help out. I thought that is what this form was for & I thought that article explained it best. Forgot the quotes, my bad! When I joined this form I loved it. Most people are extremely helpful but lately it just seems like a bunch of people looking to pick fights, smh. Sad really :(

As for splitting hairs... "Anyone who says "muscle weighs more than fat" means that a volume of muscle weighs more than an equal volume of fat, which is true." Granted - maybe that is what they mean, but it can also be misleading. My post wasn't to cause controversy, it was to help educate.

Oh, I'm sorry if I came off that way. Forums are weird because people can't express intonation but I wasn't trying to pick a fight, just curious.

I hit a plateau after 4 months. Just keep at it and you'll be losing weight AND inches.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
