Molly40.P 55 Posted February 28, 2013 So I'm starting my pre op diet tomorrow, I found Protein Shakes at costco called "premier Protein shakes" $25.00 for 18 pre made shakes. My first protein purchase. Any thoughts?? Suggestions?
dylanmiles23 2,198 Posted February 28, 2013 I buy powder ones. They are less money. I like mine very thick. I add ice to the milk and powder and blend it all together so they are extremely thick. Good luck with everything. I use Body Fortress available at Walmart for around $15. 1 Molly40.P reacted to this
kmaas21605 14 Posted February 28, 2013 The costco shakes are wonderful! I like the vanilla with nutmeg on top. It tastes like custard. I also mix them with ice and fruit to make smoothies. They are a little more expensive than powder, but the convenience is worth it to me!
SunshineTexas 20 Posted February 28, 2013 Convenience is worth the extra $ on the pre-made shakes for me too. I prefer the taste of the Adkins shakes over the costco brand, but the Costco brand has more Protein, and you'll need that extra protein after surgery. I also got the powder and at times added an extra scoop to the pre-made ones because I struggled to get enough protein in. 1 Molly40.P reacted to this
dylanmiles23 2,198 Posted February 28, 2013 I use 2 scoops of the powder when I make the shakes. I was also told to buy Carnation Instant Breakfast Protein Shakes. They are just fair. I was given one before I left the hospital to make sure it went down and stayed.

ttny007 29 Posted February 28, 2013 Also I went to a seminar on "protein" and the best Protein is Isopure whey. What I found out is not all Proteins absorb the way we as lap band people need it to. It's not just how much but the type that we take. They said the worst is those ones that come in a tube and u just drink them. They are expensive and out body doesn't absorb it correctly. I only go to a support group if they have some type of information seminar that I'm going to learn something. I don't eat meat so I have to get the biggest bang for my buck with the protein. Hope this helps T 1 Molly40.P reacted to this
