Excess weight loss %

Recommended Posts

Someone please explain this to me. If they expect someone to lose 65% of their excess weight. How do you figure this? At weigh in, I was 280. Today, a week and a half from surgery, I weigh 267. What is my excess body weight? I am 5' 11''.

Your excess body weight would be your current weight less your goal weight.

So 65% would be 65% of the weight you want to lose.

Here's mine:

Starting weight: 421

Goal weight: 160

Excess weight: 261

261 x .65 = 169

So to lose 65% of my excess weight would be 169 pounds

(btw, I've lost 191 pounds so I've lost 73% of my excess weight so far)

So when it is said that most can experience an excess body weight loss of 50% is that after surgery or pre diet?

Basically, can I get to 190 from 280 with the band?

It's weight loss after surgery.

...and you can lose as much as you want to lose. No one said you had to stop at a certain percentage. Like I said, I've lost 73% of my excess weight in the last 14 months and I'm still steadily losing.

I know people on here who have lost 100% of their excess weight. In fact, some have even gone below their goal weight.

How much you lose is entirely up to you. Don't let statistics scare or deter you.

Ok how do you do it

Starting is 225

Goal is140

So how do I know what my excess weight is?

In your case, it would be #'s lost divided by .85 That'll show you how much % excess weight you've lost.Say you have lost 30#'s. 30/.85= 35% of your excess weightSay you have lost 40#'s 40/.85= 47% of your excess weight
