m1aman 944 Posted February 27, 2013 As others will tell you your band isn't working yet. You may need a few fills to get in the groove of things. In the meantime it is up to you to control yourself. I know it is tough but it really is up to you. I still deal with the cravings after 16 months so I know it isn't easy. Just keep reminding yourself how good you are gonna feel when your are smaller. Believe me it is worth it! 7 kazjim98, Spaness2012, SeaSounders♥ and 4 others reacted to this
Maddysgram 6,159 Posted February 27, 2013 M1 is right. Right now you have to depend on your want power, not willpower. How bad do you want this? Ask yourself that before you put something in your mouth, how bad do I want this. 4 SeaSounders♥, ☠carolinagirl☠, ♕ajtexas♕ and 1 other reacted to this
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! 12,703 Posted February 27, 2013 I feel like i can eat anything!? The band isn't supposed to physically stop you from eating anything, that's not it's job. It's job is to help control your hunger. It will always be up to you to make good food choices. Ive been giving in to cravings and eating things i should not. Unfortunately, the band goes around your stomach not your brain. Once you have adequate Fluid in your band and you're in the Green Zone it gets easier because you're not hungry all the time, but it can't and won't stop you from eating things you shouldn't. I dont feel full at all after i eat If you're eating until you're full, you're likely eating too much. You should be eating until you're satisfied not until you're full. Please have a look at this link, I think it'll give you a much better understanding of the band and really help you a lot: http://drsimpson.net...estriction.html Best wishes and hang in there, you're at the beginning of your journey and does get easier. 6 SeaSounders♥, Lildevil, kazjim98 and 3 others reacted to this
♕ajtexas♕ 3,771 Posted February 27, 2013 First off, you are not a failure. It is time to stop thinking that way. This is a long journey with lots of ups and downs and you have just begun, When I first started I kept a journal, a notebook (not a computer app). I would list what I ate, when I ate it and how I was feeling at the time and anything else that was on my mind. What I found was some patterns and trigger points (times) to watch for. Now when those triggers resurface I recognize them and do something to stop them (go for a walk, drink Water, etc..) I learned to fight the head hunger and feed the physical hunger, You can do this. 9 m1aman, DELETE THIS ACCOUNT!, Veronica68 and 6 others reacted to this

I feel like im failing at this and need to get a grip. help please I perfectly understand u... I'm there too. I was banded the 18 and I have been starving. I tried to follow my doc advise abt liquids only, but after 3 days I was eating meets and veggies. I didn't vomit, didn't feel sick at all. My doc told me that The band is in place but it doesnt have much liquids to stop food craving. i should get a fill in about 2 months and then the band will do its job and it will b easier for me to do mine. In the meantime, my band is just around my tummy until I get a fill. I'm starving, but I'm fighting it. I paid 9k for my band so I better do this. 1 rcaruthie reacted to this
Leslie80 14 Posted February 27, 2013 If u need a band buddy send mr pvt message and I ll give u my number. I stopped eating the wrong foods bc I know the band can slip and cause major medical problems for me. That's what motivates me not to eat the wrong foods. I DONT WANT 2 END UP IN THE HOSPITAL, I tell myself that every day!

I too was banded on the 18th and I so very badly want to chew something. I actually took a couple of tiny pieces of a bagel and chewed it for a long time before swallowing. With each meal I prepare for my family, I'm struggling to avoid the food and just drink my shake or have a yogurt. Tonight I did taste the sauce from the Pasta dish. I'm on the full liquid phase right now, but that is just not satisfying. What did your doctor say about eating foods? I don't really understand WHY we are supposed to move so slowly to each phase. I have no fill at all, and other than a little burping, I haven't even really felt like I have a band. I feel like i can eat anything!? I was banded in the 15th. Ive been giving in to cravings and eating things i should not. I dont feel full at all after i eat.... I feel like im failing at this and need to get a grip. help please Have you tried different kinds of shakes? I don't have any real advice because I'm having to work really hard to resist the temptation to eat. But we can do this. Message me too if you want to talk. I'm just 3 days behind you. Full liquid tomorrow--Protein shake at Breakfast, unjury chicken Soup for lunch, a yogurt for a snack, and then I'm really not sure what I want to do for supper yet. That's the meal I struggle with. ♕ajtexas♕ 3,771 Posted February 27, 2013 Cindy the reason for the post op diet and slow moving to food is that your stomach needs time to heal. If you where to eat solid food then your stomach muscle would have to work and could rip out the stitches holding the band in place. So doing liquids then mushy food gives your stomach time to heal. This is what my doctor explained to me. 8 Cindy2013, Leslie80, Holly Dolly and 5 others reacted to this
Leslie80 14 Posted February 27, 2013 True! Our tummy has to heal. My doc advised me to do the full liquid diet and gradually to start eating solids. He gave a list of foods I should/ not eat. Do u want it?
