Need suggestions of Puree foods for Puree Diet

Recommended Posts

Hi I had my lap band surgery on Feb 14th 2013. The first few days were very hard because I always feel hungry and have a lot of gas. I drink of a lot of caffee free teas and Decaf coffee to help ease the gas pains. Today I started my puree diet any suggestions on meals to have in order to stay motivated and still remain full. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Having worked with people on purée diets professionally my primary advice would be "don't purée your food" focus on foods that have a purée consistency naturally. Cream Soups, mashed potatoes flavored/smoothed with broth instead of Water or milk; cream of wheat, yogurt. Heck if you like spaghetti try a bowl of your favorite spaghettit sauce just eat it like Soup.< /p>

Limit your mashed potatoes.......no nutritonal value. My fav meal was chicken in a blender, I threw in a bit of non fat gravey for moisture and some laughing cow cheese, came out the consistancy of Peanut Butter but it was tasty and great Protein. Chicken salad, tuna salad, refried Beans with a bit of Pasta Sauce or sour cream. Lots of choices. Add cottage cheese to your Soups and put it in the blender, a nice taste and boost of protein. good luck.

I blended spinach then I layered it with spaghetti sauce and ricotta cheese and heated it in the microwave. It's like lasagne filling

I also substituted canned pumpkin for the spinach and added nutmeg salt and pepper. Tastes like pumpkin ravioli s.

And I added favor free Protein powder from powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury ( after it came out of the microwave though)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
