Can it Take a Few Days...or Weeks?

Recommended Posts

I had my second fill on Jan 30th (so about 3+ weeks ago. ). All was fine until a few days ago when I had my first bad stuck episode. Can it take a few weeks to tell whether the fill was too much? Or did I likely do damage and not take things slowly enough after the stuck episode? Today I ate a ham sandwich with no issues. Tonight, I took my bedtime pill and laid down. Within 30 minutes, here came the mucous then coughing, gas and finally retching over the toilet with no PB or vomit. What's the deal???

You may be causing irritation eating things like bread. Sometimes fills take a few weeks to settle in due to swelling in your stomach. If you can eat a sandwhich I doubt that you are too tight.

that was my thought if u can eat a ham sandwith u aren't to tight but eating to fast or to big of bit. The size of the bit is the size of you pinky nail and take time between bits that is still hard for me. Stuck issues is part of the program you need to stick to it closly to be comfortable.

Thanks everyone for your kind input. After talking to my nurse I'm pretty sure the problem was lying down too soon after a meal and immediately after taking bedtime meds. I'm going to try taking them a couple of hours before bed and see if that helps. It's a learning process!

Ladybabie, "PB" stands for "productive burp.". It's when you burp and the undigested food comes back up. It's not violent like throwing up. I haven't had this happen yet.

I just had my first pb tonight. Always wondered what it was like. It sure got me unstuck. And I didn't bother trying to finish my meal. I don't ever want to do it again either. The slime was gross!!! Yes slime is another word that I had not experienced but heard a lot about it. Yuck. I don't know what it's going to take for me to slow down and chew. I'm hardheaded I guess. But I'm learning:)

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
