Instyle98 240 Posted February 25, 2013 I know I should know this, but somehow I don't - would someone please explain to me why you should not drink with your meals?
marfar7 1,533 Posted February 25, 2013 The consensus seems to be that you will wash the food down quicker and won't get as full. I physically CAN'T drink while eating or I vomit. That makes it easier for me to coply with this rule! Marci 2 ☠carolinagirl☠ and m1aman reacted to this
elcee 3,341 Posted February 25, 2013 Well the theory used to be that it pushed the food through quicker, that was back in the old days when we were told that food stayed in the pouch for a long time. Now we have been told that the food goes through in about 1 minute so it's not quite as relevant. In fact many Dr's and Nut's will tell you it is OK to drink with your meals so long as you are not washing the bite through. What you need to do is avoid making the food so wet that it slides straight past the receptors that need to be triggered to tell you that you have had enough. But each person is different, many can't drink with meals as it is too uncomfortable.I do sometimes have a glass of wine with dinner, but that is slipped slowly. I no longer drink other liquids with dinner.< /p> 1 ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this
cflick 303 Posted February 25, 2013 My Dr and NUT also said it was bc it would wash the food down quicker and won't get as full... MY NUT suggested setting a glass of ice chips beside my plate if its hard tho incase I get choked or get something too hot/spicy and a small pc of ice will solve the problem. 1 ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this
☠carolinagirl☠ 18,721 Posted February 25, 2013 I guess it depends on whom you ask and what their dr says. So here is what mine said. Very similar to the above poster, the liquid (pushes in through) and we want the food to sit on the (top part)....now whether or not that is true, I don't know. But I stop drinking when I eat and wait 30 min after. 1 Jewelsm1127 reacted to this
