DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! 12,703 Posted February 24, 2013 I'd do it again in a heartbeat. I've had many abdominal surgeries, including multiple hernia surgeries and a c-section. The Lap Band surgery was a piece of cake in comparison. I had the surgery on a Friday and was back to my normal routine by Wednesday. I was uncomfortable the first couple days but not horribly so. I didn't even take prescription pain killers after the second day because I didn't feel I needed them. I've lost over 190 pounds in less than 14 months since my Lap Band surgery. Getting the band is by far the best decision I've ever made for myself. 9 BandSister, dee257, KimberleyP and 6 others reacted to this
Jean McMillan 2,973 Posted February 24, 2013 Congrats on the start of your WLS journey! My band surgery was easy, and a lot less painful, than other surgeries I've had, ranging from oral surgery to a hysterectomy to a breast reduction. And yes, I would do it again, because those few days of discomfort were well worth it in terms of the long term benefits for my physical health, mental health, and lifestyle. 4 Karina150, DELETE THIS ACCOUNT!, dee257 and 1 other reacted to this

hopeful_janna 13 Posted February 24, 2013 Awesome! Im just nervous. We are flying from west texas to dallas to have the surgery. We plan on flying back home the day after surgery. So traveling makes me nervous too.. I've had a c-section 4 yrs ago and it was the worst pain I've ever been in.. people keep telling me the lap-band is nothing compared to that pain.. I flew back from Ontario to British Columbia the second day after surgery (6 hour flight, plus 1.5 hour wait in airport, then another 30 minute flight). I was uncomfortable (but that is mostly because I have a ruptured disc in my back that bugs me), but it was doable. My dr said I could take gravol if I wanted (to knock me out perhaps?) but I didn't feel it was necessary, and all I did was take my pain pills before I got on the plane, and then after I got home. My only suggestion is that if you are in a large international type airport, consider having someone wheel you in a wheelchair. It was much easier, and I didn't have to wait in line for the security check, which was nice as well. Good luck to you! 1 dee257 reacted to this
LapBandit2013 162 Posted February 24, 2013 I had minimal pain. You're doped up after surgery, then just maintain your med schedule after, plus pain prevention tips you'll find here like heating pads and walking, etc. I went to Mexico - the day after surgery I walked a mile round-trip to a casino, then flew home that night. It was totally fine, but I found I slid down really far in my seat because sitting up straight hurt my port site. I also had a c-section, and this is a piece of cake in comparison. akwright68 114 Posted February 24, 2013 I am another recent bander (Feb. 15th), and still experiencing the post-op diet and little "Twinges" here and there when I overdo it. YES, I would do it again in a heartbeat. The minimal discomfort is worth every bit of the reward of having this tool to help me finally have some advantage in the weight loss game.
