I am feeling like a total failure. I had my lapband done on Jan. 10. I was doing just great with no problems. Then it hit me like a ton of bricks. I stop loosing weight and honestly was sticking to what they told me to eat. Now two weeks later I am thinking why bother I am not loosing. I have a appointment this Monday to discuss a fill. I don't know what to expect if they do a fill. Can so one tell me wha t happens during a fill and also after. Do u think it will help me? I feel hungry noe where before I did not. I am hoping someone will explain what happens.

Some people need several fills to get to the point where they are not hungry. This is very common and I am sure your surgeon can help you with your questions.

I had the band on the 11/1/13

I lost about 12 and then put on 2 before my first fill if 4ml which takes my band to 7ml. So I was also thinking that it was a bit disappointing that I had started to put on weight and it was almost as if the band was not there. But I've been told this is normal and that its just time for me to have the 1st fill after surgery.

I have to say that I haven't been able to keep anything down post the 1st fill yet except cold liquids so my stomach must be quite swollen. I'm hoping that it gets better

I was banded 12/17. Got my first fill 4cc and never felt full. I was losing slowly but steady. I got a second fill 2cc this past week. Still not feeling full. So I am one of those that will need a few to get to the right spit.

But don't worry about a fill. Nothing to it. Just a stick and that all I felt. Doc had me drink a cup of Water to be sure not too tight then on my way

I'm now at 8ml - fills been taken very slowly because I fly a lot due to work and the Dr says its better to take fills very slowly.

I'm losing weight slowly even though I haven't concentrated too much on my diet. I've lost 40lvs since January. My BMI has gone from 38 to 32

So the band is not a miracle device but it does work

I'm still able to eat anything? Does anyone know if what you can eat as you get more fills??

I'm new to surgery, but theoretically you should be able to eat anything if you chew it into tiny pieces. That being said, many people have a problem with bread, Pasta and rice- anything the expands or is sticky. Dry chicken can also be the devil.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
