Had surgery Tuesday and still having chest and shoulder pain. I haven't felt nauseas yet thank God. But this chest and shoulder pain is not going away this is normal right?I did have a hiatal hernia repair too.

Yes, totally normal. Shoulder pain gets better, but don't be surprised to still feel some shoulder pain for awhile. It gets less and less but sometimes hangs in for a bit. Tylenol works great.

I have been alternating ice therapy on the shoulders and heating pads (3) on my shoulders, chest and middle back. I walk during my lunch hour at work and for an hour after work. It has helped with the shoulder pain. The one night I didn't do any walking or the heating pads was torture.

Pepperment tea, heating pads and I found if I got the pain while I was sitting, it did help to stand..........good luck.

I also had surgery on Tuesday. I felt pressure on my chest, not pain. I feel pain where my port is. Anyone knows how long this lasts

I also had surgery Tuesday and I must say gas pain sucks. It has eased up a lot but I'm still dealing with it. I purchased these dissolvable pellets from the Vitamin Shoppe that are for "abdominal bloating with gas" and they have helped A LOT. I also have warm Water with a table spoon of Lemon juice. Gas-x wasn't as effective for me as the other two methods I mentioned. Good luck!

After surgery I went to the mall. I walked for hours. My doc said that the walking helped me not to feel gas pain. Didn't feel anything until today, pressure on my chest and pain on the port. It's real uncomfortable

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
