? for those who dine as part of business in the post op stage

I have to attend a half day meeting where both Breakfast and lunch are served next week. The breakfast is continental so fruit, pastry, muffins, Bagels (none of which I can eat in my mushie stage) and lunch will very likely be sandwhiches.

My plan for lunch would be to pick the tuna or chicken salad sandwhich and just eat the Protein, but I am stumped on the breakfast. Of course I can skip all together, but generally folks at this meeting do eat a bunch and we eat as groups during the networking session.

I also have a business dinner one evening next week, we are going to a steak house, no idea how I am going to deal with that.

The breakfast will be the hard part. Maybe oatmeal if they offer it? Or even pour a Protein Shake into a coffee cup and just sip on that while the others eat?

The dinner should be easier. Go online and chances are good you'll be able to find a restaurant menu ahead of time. A steak house is sure to at least have Soup, probably mashed potatoes too. You could just explain your tummy has been acting up so you're going easy (which isn't a total lie, you're healing!).

my office has catered lunches/breakfasts all the time so i feel for you

am hoping they have some fruit for you..i am glad mine has that..

just eat smart and dont over stress yourself..trust yourself to make good choices..

thats how i wing it...

Have a quiet word with the person in charge of catering. You have special dietary requirements and you are entitled to make a private request for them to be catered for.

I have a Lions Club meeting every two weeks and as I no longer eat red meat, I have a chicken meal. A small number of us have a special meal like this and it is no big deal.

I also dine out regularly for business, have done from the beginning of my band journey, and have learned to speak up quietly.

Continental sometimes includes yoguart.......or just bring your own. Or make a Protein Shake and bring it to the breakfast.........if anyone asks, it is a Protein shake, 'nuff said. Steakhouse. I traveled about 2.5 wks post surgery. Soup should be on the appy menu, alot of places have a Pasta option. I remember ordering pumpkin ravioli, I then cut out all the 4 edges of the ravioli and put it to the side, and ate the inside........purees pumpkin with a little of the pasta on the top and bottom. There was more pasta on the side of my plate than what I ate. Personally, I would eat before dinner and order soup as your main............if these people do not know of the surgery, I would just say you aren't feeling great soup is what you prefer.

SageTracey is right. I'm sure you can get yogurt for breakfast. You can eat that easily in the mushie stage. For lunch, ask if you can have Soup. Then you'll be fine. I'm almost six weeks post op and had my first off site meeting Tuesday/Wednesday. Plus I didn't eat because I was flying....liquids only. I was surely nervous, but I did really well. Went for Japanese one night and had miso soup and a few slices of sashimi. Yogurt for breakfast, grilled chicken with salad greens for lunch, and then I was home for dinner. It's a big hurdle...eating out or eating with work colleagues but you'll do great,dolphintatoo, I know you will.

I feel your pain, I have a bridal shower in a banquet hall a week after my surgery! I am going to call ahead to see if Soup is on the menu and if not ask for hot Water and do one of my chicken soup pakcets.

As far as your breakfast goes, I agree you can make a shake ahead of time and even put it in a travel mug and pull the whole "tummy just not right". Also, my nutritionist told me that while I"m on mushies I can have anything I can mash with my fork, so maybe some of the fruit will be extra ripe like a banana?
