I had my first fill today and almost passed out. It didn't hurt or anything but I got myself all worked up and scared. I felt so silly after laying down with a cold compress.....I am such a baby. Anyway, my question is......I am starving....is that normal? I am on clear fluids for two days then full fluids for two and so on. Am I going to feel hungry the whole time? I thought I would feel full easy like after surgery. Thoughts??

Was your fill using Flouro? If not, its really just an educated guess how much restriction you'll have. ( no disrespect to the fill doc, but really it is just a guess unless they can see the restriction )

And yes, on Clear liquids, you'll probably feel some hunger. You had probably some swelling right after surgery, so that may have led to your early feeling of being "full".

Congrats on your progress! :)

Thanks. I had 3.5cc put in my 10cc band. Not using flour.

Plus it is only your first fill so you are unlikely to experience restriction just yet. It usually takes a number of fills.

But you are on your way!

I had my first fill today also. My PA was going to but 4cc in my 10cc band but the Water wasn't moving good so she reduced it to 3cc. Needles don't bother me, but seeing how long that needle was was a little disheartning. It bothered the people I told more than me. Good Luck on the next part of our journey.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
