Question about hard boiled eggs

Recommended Posts

My question is how long will hard boiled eggs keep in the fridge? Someone told me 3 days but uncooked eggs keep longer than that. Why would a cooked eggs life be shortened?

eggs in a shell are sterile and haven't been exposed to the environment.

We buy hard boiled eggs at costco. 2 dozen are very cheap and you don't have to peel them. They're sealed and usually last up to 45 days. I hate peeling eggs.

Some deli's keep them in pickling juice, but I keep mine in Water so they don't dry out in a rubbermaid container in the fridge for up to a week, they don't usually last that long!

thanks about the pre cooked eggs. I go to BJ's and they have them and my husband asked about them. I don't eat any eggs, though. I will now buy them.

Pre-cooked eggs! Wow, I never dreamt of such a thing.

I saw them at BJ's, Egg Lands Best. I am going to buy them next week.

You can also buy already boiled in a bag at grocery store for lazy people like me.

I boil 2 dozen for the week ( my kids eat them also) here's a tip for EASY EASY PEELING! Cover eggs with cold Water add 1 Tbsp salt and 1 1/2 tsp baking soda bring to a boil the cover and turn off the heat. Let sit for 15 min. Then drain and rsoak in cold water to stop cooking and the refrigerate for at least 3 hrs ( overnite is better). The baking soda does something chemically to the shell that makes them super easy to peel
