Yup, you'll get used to it. You're still in the very early stages of healing. Every day gets better. Just take it easy, don't lift anything over 10 pounds and if the dicomfort increases or doesn't go away, see your Dr about it.

Grats on getting banded and Welcome to LBT!

thANkyou for replying back , i have been lifting and going up stairs alot since i am moving.Lots of boxes to bring up. i would say 20 -30 pounds. if i feel discomfort i make sure i don't do anything. i just want to get unpacked and get things done.

is it the band i am feeling on the left side under breast area? I am worried about the band slipping and when i feel discomfort i think that.

Hi and congrats on your banding. Sounds as if you are really overdoing things, especially with the lifting. I certainly understand your wanting to get things settled, but remember to take care of yourself first or you could really put yourself in bed, the last place you want to be when you've got so much to do.

I doubt that the stairs are a major concern, but the lifting is. Yes you are probably feeling the area on your left side more because of the band and the surgery, not to mention the port. I don't believe that lifting can cause slippage, but you are still healing, it was surgery and you have sutures(stitches) inside that you may be straining and irritating.

Hope you can slow down a bit and enjoy coming to the boards. There are a lot of nice, supportive people here and I think you will find it most enjoyable.

Welcome:D

Cindy

Geesh girl. You shouldn't be lifting that stuff yet. You could tear a stitch around your port or band. Now I'm concerned. Are you in pain or is this just a continued discomfort from surgery? Is it getting better since surgery? Or has it worsened since you've been lifting those boxes?

My port is just under my ribs on the right side, but Dr's put them in different places. Your stomach is under your ribcage on the left side and the band is probably pretty close to your breastplate.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
