Every surgeon is different. Seems like average is 10-15k. Mine will be 13k with Dr Curry in Cincinnati, Ohio. Keep in mind cost of aftercare as well. My surgeon include 2 years of visits/fills, others charge 100-300 per fill/ visit etc...

Best suggestion is research surgeons in your area. Good luck!!

I meant that some charge $100-$300, not all. Just reread what I wrote...

True Results charges 9999.00 and that includes 1st year fills. I was a self pay too and they finance you, even if you have marginal credit. Now if you have a hiatal hernia they will repair that at the same time and bill your insurance for that part. Your insurance should cover that and it brought my cost down to $5,000.00

Check them out, they are all across the us.

Good luck

I was self pay and mine was $18,000.00 at Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville, Va. Included one year of fills. Then I pay $500.00 a year for follow up visits. And I go to see my doctor. I think it helps with my success.

I second what she said about True Results. I am self pay and it looks like I will be going through them. I will be traveling from Florida to TX for the surgery but it is worth it for the savings. Also, I have read so many good things about True Results... Just do a search for "True Results" and you will see.

The other thing I love about them is that someone answers the phone every time I call! They have all been nice. I have my first consultation this morning. Good Luck!

Counting everything, even all the pre op test I had to do, It was $24,000.00 That is what I spent from start to finish. I kept up with it so I could claim it on insurance .

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
