I'm currently taking in about 500 calories a day. Is that too little?

How many calories do you usually intake?

Yes, i believe so

I take in 1000-1200 calories (usually closer to 1000 and I also burn at least 400 cals at the gym). When I reach goal I will veer towards about 1400 calories per day

Why do you eat so little? Is all that the band allows? Or are you purposely trying to stay that low?

I burn at least 500 calories in the gym daily. I was purposely eating that little. I thought it would help me lose weight faster. /:

Nope, eating too little generally will slow your metabolism, making it counter-intuitive

Eating 5 small meals a day (or every 3 hours and not past 7 PM) is what they say will speed up your metabolism to be at optimum fat burning efficency

500 calories daily? What do you eat? I've never been on less than 1200 other than pre op and post op. I have lost 110 lbs in seven months and that's all food and very seldom a Protein Shake here and there. I also walk 4 days a week or more when its not so cold up north. My opinion eat more, exercise and it will come off how its supposes to slow n steady. Best wishes for a healthy new you!

I exercise at least 5 days a week && burn at least 500 calories a day. I eat a Protein Shake in the morning, a scrambled egg for lunch, && another Protein shake for dinner. I'm also drinking Water all day. I thought the less calories you ate, the faster your weight loss was. My mistake. /:

You need to eat girl lol!! Good for you in burning them calories at the gym I'm excited when I burn 200 lol. You don't want to go in starvation mode so enjoy your food make meal plans for the day or week when u have time. I track my food on my fitness pal which really helps tracking calories, fats, carbs, protein etc. ;)

I have been told by a few dietitians you need to eat to lose weight. I have about 1000-1200 calories a day. I also go to the gym 4-6 times a week. Remember Protein is the most important food item to eat first.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
