I started my liquid diet this morning, my doctor sells the Chike Meal Replacement shakes and the list of additional things are: coffee (no cream), un sweet tea, beef, chicken & veggie broth. The meal replacement shakes are working better than I thought. I expected to be soooooo hungry today and I have not been hungry at all.

The only other thing that was on my list for pre op foods was 2 sugar free popsicles per day. And I agree about the Protein Shakes filling you up. They are awesome!

I love Edye's sugar free fruit pops. I think they taste much better than Popsicles.

I was told about shakes, they have to have whey on the package and high Protein. I use Body Fortress, priced right at Walmart about $15. I use chocolate, add Decaf instant coffee, peppermint extract and lots of ice and make a very thick shake. I use only skim milk (8oz).

I just got off a post fill diet of liquids and did fine with the above for 3 days. I finish my 3 days of mushys tonight.

Thanks! This is probably a dumb question, do you drink&eat these items all day long? Or divide them into 3 meals?

I didn't know you had to do 3 days of liquid & 3 days of mushy after a fill. Interesting. Is that every single time you have a fill?

That'll depend on your specific instructions from your Dr. Mine suggest liquids for 24 hours, then a day of soft foods, then progress as tolerable. Lots of different ideas from each.

For your soft stage also maybe buy cottage cheese, soft fruits (strawberries and stuff)

Every doctor is different so check with yours. My doctor is from a major Boston one. I am still eating meatballs until tomorrow.

chicken and beef broth are considered Clear Liquids. You can google clear liquids and get a list.

yes for my doctor. I have seen on this site that some people don't have to do either. I do find that after this 6 day change I lose 6-10 lbs. and then when I start to eat real food again I regain maybe 2 lbs. Sounds weird but a loss is always good. Since my fill last Friday I have not been over 199 which I love seeing.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
