Green Zone...who's there?

Recommended Posts

So who's in the green zone, what size is your band and how many cc's are in your band now at your current green zone level?

I went for my first fill today and the nurse told me that I have a 10 cc band and there is 3.8cc in it. However, she also told me that she did not expect me to be in the green zone after my fill. She said that most people find the green zone between 5-8 cc's. I guess I feel a little disappointed that it's going to take me so long to get to the green zone. I had 2.8cc's put in my band during surgery and don't feel any restriction at all, so I am concerned that the additional 1 cc that I received today won't help me much.

It can take up to 6 fills to find the green zone. What you are experiencing is normal but unfortunately we're seldom told about this part of the journey. How many CCs are in your band is irrelevent. I have no idea how many are in mine. I only know I have good restriction and I've been in and out of the green zone a few times.

I have a Large AP Lap Band that will hold 14 ccs; I have had numerous fills and see my surgeon each month since my surgery in April 2012.

I am not in the "Green Zone" (yet). I have 7 ccs in my band. I am going in for a fill tomorrow. We shall see . . .

Good Luck on your journey :)

Before my body lift I was at the 'green zone' at around 7.5cc in my 10cc band. After my unfill, I needed 8.5cc to get back into the green zone (and stayed there for 3 years). After two port revisions, I now feel good restriction at around 9cc but it doesn't last because of the leak, but I expect that my green zone will be around there or slightly more if not for the leak. Who knows what it will be after I have band replacement.

tmf is right, it doesn't really matter as long as you get there. It can be frustrating when you need so many more fills than anyone else to get there sometimes, but once you're there, it won't matter, really.

You cannot judge yourself against others...this is a really personal thing and everyone is different. I first hit the green zone when I was at 5.5 ccs in a 10cc band but I had a decent amount of restriction from The beginning. For me it changed as I lost the weight and the band loosened. The first year I had 6 fills. The 2nd year I had 2 fills. The last being last October.

I have 1cc in my band and I feel I'm in the green zone. I've lost 113 pounds since may 2012 like this. It's definitely different for everyone.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
