He is right...it will take about a month before you can get back into a gym. I am at my 60th day and I still cannot do sit ups or any ab machines but I am on the elliptical, treadmill, and weights daily.

6 weeks, no exceptions, no discussion at my clinic. Your band and port are sewn into place and although you feel good, you are still healing inside. You can walk. Good set of headphones, good music and walk away. Don't risk it, it is not worth it.

It's 20 degrees outside lol I usually walk at the gym.. I put my membership on medical hold and my dr won't give me a note to reactivate it until the 7th (not to bad) I tried walking around the mall but it's always so crowded...

Can't wait for warmer weather!

I just had my 2 week check and he said I have no restrictions and can start exercising whenever I'm ready!

My doc said walk, walk, walk away....but wait to do any other high impact exercising and/or sports until 6 weeks out. Good for you for wanting to "get at it" but be careful and patient. :)

Check it with your doc first, but listen to your body when you do start. Because things are sewn into place just be cautious.

Walking, swimming (once surgery spots are healed), repetitive arm routines are all easy things to do while we are on restricted movement. Your motivation to get started is awesome, just wait to make sure that when you do , it counts.

You are not lazy! This band is work in all it phases. Stay positive, you got this :) Cheers

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
