I am going nuts right now. I'm all ready for surgery on Thursday and now a snowpocalypse is looming for the 18 hrs before and after. After a winter with minimal snow apparently it's all gonna dump on my town just in time to interfere with getting to and from the hospital. I've already called to make sure it wouldn't cost extra to postpone but it will be a nightmare to carve alternate recovery time from my work schedule. I'm just filled with impotent rage right now it's as if the universe is saying "I don't care how ready you are I am still fully prepared to stop you from moving forward"

I know it's silly and I need to just roll with whatever happens but I needed to vent.

Take deep breaths! Right before my surgery...I took everything as a sign that I wasn't ready. But the reality is .....things happen...weather delays the process......but at the end of the day....I was more than ready.

I know it would suck if there is a delay but try and relax and see what happens.

Keep us posted! :)

hang in there. it will happen. the universe (and this forum) and me is on your side.

I used to work at a hospital in Lake Arrowhead, Ca where it can snow 4-6 ft in 24 hrs period. In March 1994, we had our "March Miracle" dumping about 4 ft of snow in 1 day. The roads were all closed and the nurses were all stuck working for 3 straight days (sleeping in between shifts, of course). But can you believe that women in labor made it to the hospital? ABout 6 of them came in. They were the only ones out and about. Where there's a will, theres a way.

I know that NOTHING could have stopped me from getting my band on the appointed day. Snow, Blow....if the roads are open and it's safe, I'd say go anyway. Thats where having a Jeep comes in handy!

Oh no!!!!!!! Don't let the snow stop you,,,,,,,are you within walking distance at least to get there............how about a cab or a friend with a 4-wheel drive

The hospital is less than 2 miles away so I could walk it easily if it wasn't record cold temperatures and I wouldn't literally have to cross 2 cornfields. The fact the hospital is so close is what will be so frutstrating. SInce I live in a rural area even if there are only 6 inches we could have 3 ft high drifts let alone the 2 ft their currently predicting.

Ironically these situations are why I want a jeep. My truck would probably make the trip but my wife is not as comfortable driving it and she's the one who will have to drive me home while the snow is theoretically still flying.

My hope is that the temperature drops enough that the snow doesn't start to fall heavily until after I'm home.

Funny how life throws you these curve balls, hey? This will be the first of many, I'm sure, but your resolve that you are ready and want this will serve you well in the long run.

P.S I hope it isn't the drama it has the potential of being!

So I just called to reschedule my surgery the newspaper just printed the snow removal plan and if I'm lucky they'll get to my house 12 hrs after my surgery time probably closer to 18. If I can't reschedule to sometime next week it will probably be months before I can carve another week out of schedule for recovery.

I'm so angry I want to just throw things and start yelling. I need to center myself before I start taking it out on my coworkers.

Frederic, how you doing now? I can understand how upset you must feel. It's exciting and also nerve racking to know you're so close to having surgery, you prepare your mind for it....and then to have it postponed (maybe). Perhaps mother nature will be kind to you. Would there be any hotels close to the hospital that you can stay in the night before and the night of? I hope it works out for you, will be keeping my fingers crossed.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
