Vpamphile 2 Posted February 19, 2013 Ok so I'll be 2 weeks post-op on thursday and I'm in the puree stage of my post op diet. I read on here a few days ago that Wendy's chili put in the blender will be okay for that stage.......so I went out today and got myself a small chili ( I was just so sick of chicken broth) well instead of putting in the blender I decided that I would just chew it up really good (30+ times) well I don't know if it was too soon to eat like that or too much but I feel stuffed! This is the first time I've been in pain, the left side of my abdomen hurts...passing gas helps...is this normal?....so I guess my question is whats the best thing to eat at this stage? maddib76 4 Posted February 19, 2013 I was allowed to have runny potatoes, oatmeal, shakes and Beans no meat at all. Every diet is different. 1 Vpamphile reacted to this

ireallywannabthin 286 Posted February 19, 2013 I'm 2 weeks post op tomorrow and on Monday I'll have my phase change from shakes to 1 soft food meal. From what I've understood from the boards is that there is a difference between mushy and soft foods. I would call your doctor to be sure, but I'd assume that Wendy's Chilli is a soft food rather than a mushy food. Think about when you got your wisdom teeth removed (if you did) or some sort of dental procedure.. think foods along that line. Soft, almost pre-chewed food. Mashed potatoes, mashed cauliflower, apple sauce, yogurt, cottage cheese, laughing cow cheese- things like that; again, it all depends on your doctor. Maybe give him/her a call just to inform them of what you had (not for scolding) but to let them know how you reacted to it and ask if it's normal. Maybe ask for some recommendations on foods as well. As far as your pain, I don't really have anything I can offer you from experience other than walking to help. Best of luck! 1 Vpamphile reacted to this
maddib76 4 Posted February 24, 2013 I wasn't allowed chili bc it had meat in it but I could have Beans, potatoes, cheese and Peanut Butter. If the gas pains are still bother you this far out there is a pill for to get rid of it but you have to ask for it. Use gas ex strips for the time being. 1 Vpamphile reacted to this
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! 12,703 Posted February 24, 2013 Puree stage of your diet doesn't mean chew until it's mush, it means it must be mush before it ever gets into your mouth. This is why others on the puree stage put the chili through a blender before eating it- as you should have too. If you can blend it into baby food consistency, you can eat it. If it's not mush then you can't eat it until you're past the puree stage. 1 Vpamphile reacted to this

dolphintattoo 96 Posted February 25, 2013 I am in the mush stage also, I use my food processor a lot and find the Starkist tuna salad packets to be a pre-made mush for times when you are out and about. I also do a lot of yogurt, chicken pureed with Tomato sauce and things like that. I don't love the look of most of it, but it's just 2 weeks then I am on to soft foods! 1 Vpamphile reacted to this
