Protein question

Recommended Posts

I have noticed several people place Protein in their yogurt or other food to help reach their daily goal. What brands/names are you guys using?

I use chobani yogurt as a snack. Generally if the yogurt is flavored I may add in 1/2 scoop of unflavored Protein. Also, really good is plain yogurt with a tbsp of Peanut Butter for a snack, or PB cookie flavored Protein Powder.< /p>

I get my daily Protein from meats, fish, Greek yogurt, cheese & nuts. I don't drink Protein Shakes unless I am on liquids from a fill. I consume 60 - 70g of Protein daily.

Glad you like the Peanut Butter yogurt Grammy.

I recently discovered a powdered Peanut Butter called P2. They press all the oil out of the peanuts and grind it to a powder. You can reconstitute it with Water to make peanut butter, but that's not really very good. It's excellent for mixing into things, though.

I am not a yogurt fan but I may be able to eat it w/ PB. This will help me get out of the Protein Shake every single morning routine.

I have been trying to get more Protein in my diet and have started adding protein powder to my Dannon Greek yogurt. I use Unjury unflavored protein powder and just mix it in thoroughly. Usually a tablespoon or so. I don't taste it that way. I occasionally have a small glass of juice when I want something sweet and mix it in there as well.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
