Its not about the amounts of caffiene its about caffiene being a stomach irritant and an appetite increaser. That is why we are not supposed to drink caffiene it has nothing to do with the amounts.

Ummm.... My surgeon had no restrictions on caffeine or any of the normal delivery methods (coffee, Tea, etc.). Nor have I seen a majority of the people on the board being restricted by their surgeons (Disclaimer, my survey was not scientific in nature).

I also have no restriction on caffeine. If I can remember I think post op I wasn't allowed for a couple weeks. I love coffee drink at least five cups a day. Evenings I switch to Decaf only so I can sleep.

I was at the mall Saturday and I smelled coffee, I mean good coffee lol. I seen the shop went in and ordered small coffee. I seen this board saying sugar free syrups. So I thought ill try chocolate. Well I thought I died and went to hershey heaven!! Enjoyed every swallow. Fortunately malls 30 mins away lol. It was a satisfying treat for me although I know sf I wldnt make a habit of it.

In the south we are raised on coffee from the time we can sip from a cup.... my grandpa use to sit me on his lap and we would drink coffee... well i would drink.. What we call here... Coffee milk... 1/4 coffee & 3/4 milk... Those are some of my best memories... i miss him everyday.

And now when my grand kids come over.... they do the same thing... Shhhhh don't tell my son or daughter in law...lol

Now I haven't had any coffee, but after I had my surgery they gave me Decaf tea, and I drink green tea now. Not a lot just a little. But I guess the moral is every doc is different.

As Terry stated, there is no rule we're "not supposed to drink caffeine". In fact, most surgeons don't have a problem with it. I know mine doesn't. Heck, I was brought coffee the morning after my surgery.

...I think I'd have to stab someone in the hand if they tried to take all caffeine from me. Just say'n.

Meh I have continued to drink coffee right through. And alcohol.

What I stopped was soda, beer and all fizzy drinks, because we all know that can do damage to your band. You can FEEL it. I reckon that's a bigger issue than coffee (in my opinion). Diet drinks are even worse, read up on something called aspartame, it'll frighten you - better not not have any sugar than drink that stuff.

If I had to give up everything I would have fallen off the wagon a long time ago. Every thing in moderation, I reckon.

At True Results they allow you soda, diet, they never said anything about damaging your band. Your band is on the outside of your stomach, the soda has no way to reach it. I did do some reasearch about the soda and lap band and cannot find anything about doing any damage.

I did find that it varys from surgen to surgen about soda or no soda. I would say its more of a personal choice. I love diet pepsi caffein free. I but the smaill 7 oz cans and allow myself no more than 2 a week.

Im just saying

While soda can not reach your band outside it makes the pouch expand and can cause the band to erode because anything that expands the pouch forces the band into the stomach which over time can cause erosion.

I had no restriction on caffeine or coffee. Was cautioned against drinking calories. I put one packet of raw sugar in each of the two cups I drink each morning. Artificial sweeteners and I don't get along, they give me aural Migraines.< /p>

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
