Going for first fill on Friday, little scared!

Recommended Posts

Best advice? Don't sweat it. Really isn't a big deal, I have had flu shots that caused more pain.

Not a big deal and they may be able to do a bit of freezing if you like. I think my first fill she did a little more digging around with her fingers to find the port, but once she did she noted it in my file and has hit it smack on, on all my other fills. Apart from the needle prick you really don't feel anything. easy peasy. Good luck.

All I can say is good luck! I'm only 12 days post op, so I don't have experience with that other than my nurse practitioner telling me it's a special kind of needle that many of her patients barely feel. You can do this!!

I'm 6 weeks post-op and going for my 3rd fill tomorrow. It's really nothing more than a little stick and its so fast. You will do fine. Good luck!

There is no need to be scared. My first fill took about 5 mins. What's ironic, is that I'm afraid of needles. All I felt was a little pinch. You will be just fine

Oh I had no idea I wouldn't feel any restrictions till after the 6 th fill? I have very little now with no fill, I just assumed a fill would give me restriction.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
