hmd 7 Posted February 18, 2013 Ok so I love my band and wish I had the means to do it years ago. Always been the chubby kid and young adult but NO MORE... Ok rant is over. I had surgery on July 2 and have since lost 80 lbs and have 6.5cc's in a 14cc band (doc calls me his rockstar!) I would like to admit a thing or two. You can't change 40+ years of bad eating habits in under a year.., CAN'T! Just like you can't be the NON-GYM person for the majority of your life and change that as quickly either. Yes yes, bad me... Moving on. I am more than pleased with the weight loss and its may be more than I deserve, happy now? So here's my question, does anyone else feel as if their band has a min of its own? Sometimes I feel tight, sometimes loose. As for the first time in a long time I am attempting to have a life and as well as everything has gone this is a frustration I would love to solve or be able to predict. It's NOT that I'm trying to eat more but honestly sometimes I have trouble eating enough. Please read the article I poached and post your non scolding replies... Thank You in advance. Terry Poperszky 2,784 Posted February 18, 2013 I haven't been banded nearly as long as you, but mine is consistent, tight in the morning and after exercise and loose at night.

Please read this article from WLS Magazine: http://www.lapbandta...on-riddles-r116 Everyday.....I don't worry about it anymore...just accept it...the days I don't eat make up for those other days.... I have gone entire days without eating at all.....no huger, no interest,........ just concern myself about Protein, Water and Vitamins........have to look at the big picture...I eat a whole lot less than I did before I had this WLS...to me, that is what it is all about....eating less and staying healthy and fit....and returning to a normal weight.... 1 ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this

♕ajtexas♕ 3,771 Posted February 18, 2013 Yes, my band fluctuates tightness from day to day. I learned the signs. When I feel tight I stay away from difficult foods and sometimes just have mushy food or a Protein shake. As Jean said in the article there are several things that can cause this. I have learned to live with it. It works for me. 1 ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this

Copied and pasted from my comment on "Restriction Riddles" There is another factor that affects restriction: My gastroenterologist told me that he's seen many pts like me who have developed GI motility disorders causing us to feel overly restricted. Also, the stomach can spasm due to being irritated by the band. This feels like tightening, because it is, but it's not your band that tightens, it's the stomach muscle. It's not necessarily a "fickle" band as much as an irritated stomach. Since going on a low Fiber, low residue diet almost 2 weeks ago, I can eat again and I'm not vomiting, PBing, or otherwise having "stuck" episodes. I'm eating rice, noodles, potatoes, breads. No problems and no weight gain, since my portions are small.
