Has snyone ever used the Realize band?

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

My Doc says he only works with the Realize band. Is this a deal breaker and should I go find a lap band Doctor?

Missy is right. Make sure it is the up to date band. In fact, anyone getting banded needs to make sure they are getting up to date stuff! Best wishes! karen

hello, i'm from Canada and most doctors here use the Realize band. I am not banded yet but should be in march. I was told that the Realize band is a very good product. There was a recall on the realize band a few years ago but it was not a recall due to defective units but it was a recall to replace them with the newer version. The recall was on unused bands and not already installed bands. So, this means that all doctors using the realize band should be using the newer version. Again, this is what I was told by my doctor and I had searched it on internet and it seems like its legit information. I did find information that backed it up.

I think that is what I have. I need to ask my surgeon specifics on my band next time I see him.

I have a Realize Band. I haven't seen more problems or difference in EWL between people I know with Realize or Lapband.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
