Hey everybody I got banded Friday morning. Was on a liquid diet Thursday. That's the last time I've had a bowel movement. Is that ok considering I'm on Chx broth and Protein Shake diet? Is there anything I should do differently? I don't feel like I need to go either. What your thoughts?

I was banded Friday as well. I was told to expect bowels to adjust 3 - 5 days after surgery. The anesthesia binds you up.

I was banded friday to. My doc told me to pu Meralox in one of my shakes or drinks once a day. I had a bowel movement this am. Is anyone having headaches?

Head aches could be from dehydration too you are not taking in adequate amount of fluids yet being this newly post op try to get in as much h2o as possible! Good luck!

I was Friday too. I'm putting Benifiber in my protien shakes to help. But again don't feel the need to go.

Head aches, yes in the morning, just annoying goes away eventually. I thought it could be dehydration but I have been getting 3 quarts plus protien in 24 hours

I was banded last Thursday. Haven't gone yet either & don't feel like I have to. Have headache off and on during the day. I have been living off of. Water, Jello @ Popsicles. Everything else makes me nauseous when I try to eat it. I go back to Dr tomorrow.

I wouldn't worry too much about it just yet. Remember you cleaned out your system before surgery and now your eating close to nothing so give your body some time to catch up. It took me 7 days after surgery to have a bowel movement and it was fine.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
