Gallbladder surgery After lapband

Recommended Posts

It's been 2 years since my band surgery. Well yesterday I was rushed to the ER for what I thought was possibly a heart attack or damage to my port. My chest and stomach hurt so bad it went thru to my back. I couldn't breath and I was just aching all over. I woke up to this pain in the middle of the night. At first I thought it was just heartburn no big deal but it rapidly got worse. I get to the hospital I advise them of my band and immediately they do a cat scan an blood work on my gallbladder. Turns out my gallbladder was full of multiple stones. So they took me in for surgery and released me today. It's literally like starting all over again. I now have 4 new incisions on my stomach and was pumped full of gas again. Shoulder pain is back my stomach is sore my throat hurts from the tube eating gas x strips again and liquid diet. If anyone else has gone thru this can you please give me some info on it. I only saw the general surgeon at the ER who did it one time before surgery. I'm suppose to follow up in 2 weeks but from now til then I don't really know what to expect how I should eat. Also this time seems a bit more uncomfortable as I'm unable to have a BM. I don't remember if I was able to after the band or if it took a couple days. Please help. Thanks.

I was banded in November, I'm scheduled for gall bladder surgery in another couple of weeks. Luckily my lapband surgeon is also doing my gall blader surgery. HOWEVER, I still remember the gas pain and being uncomfortable for a few days and not looking forward to that again, plus another 4 incisions. Some say it's worse than lapband surgery, some say not as bad. I'll keep it positive and hope, fingers crossed, that it's not worse. Best of luck to you, speedy recovery.

I had mine out in December but I had no pain except when I woke up. My surgeon let me resume normal meals the same day. I have had no issues since but that is just me. I had no gas only burning where my big incision was. I was up and moving the next day and doing housework within four days. To me it was the easiest recovery of any surgery I had.

Thank for the advice. Gas pains are much worse with this surgery than lap band. I do also have the burning sensation around the larger incision. I'm just literally at a stand still on what to do. I didn't really have gas pains except for the first day after lap band. These gas pains don't seem to want to go away. I can literally feel all the bubbles moving around but still not passing. Ugh please pray this ends quickly.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
