black folks and the scars

Recommended Posts

i feel like my scars are taking longer to fade than is generally discussed on the board. do any of you guys have any tips for fading scars on dark skin? i am already using mederma and it seems to be working slightly. but at this pace, it would be like 5 years before they faded to the point that they couldn't be seen from say 5 feet away. luckily i didn't get any keloids so that's not a problem. but any help on fading these suckers would be appreciated. thanks!

have you tried "skin lighteners" and good old fashion coco butter? If you see a dermatologist Im sure you can get them gone.

I have been banded yet but i had laproscopic surgery on both elbows, (a total of eight 2cm cuts) definitely still have scars, although my left elbow its been a year has improved dramatically

Canadian/Italian with keloids here. I had a surgery 3 years ago, scars are still red and bumpy. I am resigned to the fact that unless I get them 'redone' I will live with them.

I DID try silicone Patches. Wore them faithufully for months. It may have helped some of the scars but not all. Anyway, will try to find the silicone Patches in case you want to try.

I purchased mine from my surgeon's office.

Here is a link to a similar product.

Neosporin brand makes the Patches as well, I think they give you like a 6 week supply of them for $20. Got mine at Target. I'm just 6 weeks out, so I haven't started using them yet per doctor's orders.
